North Norfolk Railway 1940's Weekend

North Norfolk Railway staged a remarkable 1940's re-enactment along the famous Poppy Line Strip in Sheringham. The nostalgic steam train journey incorporated Weybourne and Holt complete with steam trains and memorable music supplied by the many musicians and acts that attended. Many visitors wore clothes from the period including army uniform and makeshift wartime fashions. Managing director, Trevor Eady was delighted with the response and said that the weekend gala was growing in size every year "There is certainly an increase in people making the effort to turn up in wartime costume" said Mister Eady "I forecast more people doing so next year" The whole atmosphere of the event bought back a lot of memories for many in an era of brief romantic ecconters, hardship and bygone memories.
