Norfolk music festival success
Trunch village in Norfolk was the setting for a music festival organized by local chiropodist Steven Randall that saw talented bands from across the region gather to raise money for the Big C appeal. The family event was sponsored by a local farmer who offered his field for the occasion "The support has been absolutely amazing" said Mr Randall "Even though we have done this sort of thing before it has gone form strength to strength and here we are today with another successful weekend" Trunch was the most unlikely location for a mini Glastonbury style spectacular made up of voluntary enthusiasts with aim to raise money for charity.
Musical highlights included, popular local indie duo Glory Glory, Ugly Dog Skiffle Combo and The Ron Sayer Band. The outdoor stage lights and sound were emphasized with a giant backdrop logo saying Trunchonbury. A little bit of eastern promise was provided by Ecini with some exotic Egyptian dancing. The Eceni or Iceni were a Brythonic tribe inhabiting an area of Britain corresponding roughly to the modern-day county of Norfolk between the 1st century BC and 1st century AD.
Trunchonbury combined various cultures and styles of music across the board and there was something there for everybody. Local DJ, Jack The House provided unique club mixing skills in contrast with the angelic sounds of The Vocal Chords Choir that were both appreciated by a mixed audience. "We have all had experience in festivals" explained Steve Randall "We have attended major festivals up and down the country and know how much work is involved to organize this kind of thing. Security was high on our list and it was important to create a safe environment for people attending"
Activities over the festival weekend included, free beauty therapy, dancing and various stalls that added to the whole atmosphere. Many fans purchased Trunchonbury memorabilia including a custom made T-shirt that listed the bands. Mr Randall plans a Trunchonbury festival on a yearly basis and is in the process of looking out for bands and sponsors for the next one.
